Frequently asked questions

How do you verify rescues?

Every partner rescue is manually verified via a 3-step process before they're allowed onto the platform.

How will I hear about matches?

All matches are sent directly to you -- no need to keep logging back in here to check.

What information do you collect?

We only collect your first name, contact information, and your lifestyle survey responses.

Who can see my contact information?

Rescues never see your contact information directly. When a rescue thinks they have a match, they suggest a specific dog and we email you directly with the dog's details and the rescue's own contact info -- reaching out from there is always your choice.

How does BarkMatch handle scale and reliability?

BarkMatch runs on Vercel and Supabase -- the same kind of managed cloud infrastructure used by companies serving millions of users. Adopter searches happen server-side with pagination rather than loading every profile into your browser, and both platforms include automated backups and built-in redundancy.

How is my privacy and security protected?

Access control is enforced at the database level, not just in the app, so even a bug in the website's code can't leak data it isn't supposed to. A rescue never has access to your contact information at all -- when they suggest a specific dog, we email you directly instead, and any further contact happens on your terms. Admin-only actions are re-verified server-side rather than trusted from the browser. We also only collect the minimum information needed to make a match.
